What I love about Facebook is that I have reconnected with a lot my high school buddies and not only did I reconnect with them on line, but I am actually going to see a lot of them this summer! Circumstances arose that allows me to go to Georgia this summer and the highlight will be reconnecting with old friends. One of my girlfriends is opening up her house to all of my and my sisters friends from our home town. What a friend! We are all active ly trying to contact all of our old friends to let them know about this little reunion.
And then another girlfriend of my sisters is inviting all the gang from our home town over to her place, for us to see everyone that is still living where we grew up. So we are going to have two wonderful evenings of get together, how exciting.
About 30 years ago I met the mother of a boyfriend and she told me she had never gone back home to visit because she hated the way she looked, she had gained so much weight. I always thought it was sad that she denied herself the chance to reconnect to her friends and family because she did not accept who she was. I know I have gained weight, and I hate it. But what can I do, I am not willing not to see all my old friends, ( the worst that can happen is that they will think, or say, "wow, now she really got fat"). Yup, I have. Middle age.
I prefer not to have this bulge around my waist, my sister just lost all of hers, and I am so jealous, but I am not going to let that bulge stop me form living life to its fullest. I have accepted me , all parts of me, even the ones I wish were not there, but that does not mean I won't keep on trying to get rid of it!
So as I meet my friends and family this summer, I will focus on them, be interested in what they have done and are doing and that way I won't have any time to be worrying about the way I look or what they are thinking about me!
